I acknowledge that Joe McNeely and Willie McDaniel were killed in documented racial terror lynchings in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina; no perpetrators were ever brought to justice; and the murders were marked by a silent community and the inaction of government officials.

I support the installation and dedication of two historical markers, one for Joe McNeely and one for Willie McDaniel, as well as the collection of soil at the site of each lynching.

I commit to learning and sharing the stories of Joe McNeely and Willie McDaniel and others who were victims of racial terror lynchings and racial inequality.
